How to Open a New Trade Chart on Platform
Before initiating a new trade, a trader should first open a chart of the specific stock index he wants to trade in order to assess the market heads and then decide whether to start/execute a buy or sell trade.
To open a trade on your platform follow the steps below
Upon selecting the "New Chart" option, a secondary menu will appear, presenting a selection of charts for opening. Should the desired chart not be present in the list, the trader must select the appropriate group and then search within that specific grouping to locate the chart needed for trading. For our illustration, "Group 6" encompasses all the indices relevant to Index Trading: the charts for all stock indices may be found here.
As a trader, you can select any index from the menu labeled "group 6" shown above, and all corresponding indices will be presented here.
Method 2: Where to Find Stock Index
Another technique of where to find index is to use the "Market-Watch" window as is displayed below.
To display the market-watch, use the button shown below or press the CTRL+M keyboard shortcut.
The Market Watch pop-up displays all trading options currently available, as illustrated in this example layout.
If some indices aren't displayed, traders can use steps outlined below to view all available charts. These methods ensure access to any missing index symbols.
1. Click anywhere inside the MarketWatch window
2. Select the option "Show All"
All the instruments you can trade will show up, and from there you can pick the specific stock index you want to trade. After picking it, click again in the Market-Watch window and this time choose "Hide All." This hides all the trading instruments you are not using, saving your internet bandwidth.
From the above symbols of stock index shown & displayed on the MarketWatch you can right-click any symbol and then select the option "Chart Window" & the chart for that particular stock index will be open on the platform workspace & you can then place indicators on this chart, analyze the market movement and also place new orders from the chart.
Method 3: How to Access Index Symbols
A person can also use the "View" menu next file: once a stock market trader goes to the view menu, they can then pick the "Symbols" option as shown below.
After picking the symbols, a window will appear showing groups of instruments. For example, we want Group 6 instruments, so expand it by clicking the + button. A list of stock index symbols will appear: choose one to add to the MarketWatch window, then click "Show" as illustrated below.
After adding all desired quotes, click the close button as instructed above. All stock index symbols will be displayed in the MarketWatch panel, allowing you to open the charts you want from the MarketWatch window.
