How to Indices Trade

Let us say you're a new indices trader wanting to start indices but you don't know what's indices trading or even how to indices trade. Well this tutorial will get you begun explaining what you need to do before beginning indices trading tell you one or two things about how to indices trade.

The first thing you need to know when it comes to how to indices trade are:

Stock Demo Account

The first time as trader you start doing some research about indices, you will be so confused as indices trader that you do not even know where to start or what to begin with, even getting a demo stock account and process of setting up this indices practice account will be confusing.

So to setup a practice stock account you'll need to just follow these steps:

Step1: Find a good broker - demo stock trading accounts are provided by indices brokers

Step2: Navigate to this stock trading broker & search for the link "Open demo indices account" or "Open Practice Account"

Step3: Once you click this type of link, you will then arrive at a page where the broker will ask you to fill your details so as to register for the demo indices account, The details are your name, phone contact and email & country.

Step4: Once you as a trader fill your details on this form press the sign up button, once you finish this registration your stock broker will then give you a "username" for the account you have registered & a "password" for the account. Along with this a broker will also provide a link where you as a Stock Index trader can download their indices platform. Click the link and download the software.

Stock Software

For this step you will then install the trading platform you've just downloaded.

To install indices platform software

  1. Go to download folder(to navigate to download folder, maximize the firefox web-browser window and click key board short-cut key CTRL+J, this will bring a pop-up panel window of the download folder)
  2. DoubleClick the set-up package of the software you have just downloaded.
  3. Follow the instruction by clicking "accept" & then click "next", "next"…. Until you get to the "finish" button, then click finish button and your set-up is complete.

To Open the Index trade platform

  1. Go to desktop & look for the short cut Icon for the Indices platform, it should have the name or logo of the broker. Or you as a stock indices trader can go to "Start menu" bottom left corner of your comp and from the programs menu search for the name of the trading software.
  2. Once you Open the trading software, then you need to login to your indices platform:

  4. Navigate to "File" at the top left corner of the platform
  5. A drop down menu will appear, from the option look for "sign in" click on it
  6. A Username & Password Login panel pops and shows up, Input your password and username you got when you signed up with your stock broker.
  7. If you forget your username and password, open your e-mail account that you signed up with & you'll have received an EMail from the broker where you as a Stock Index trader can refer the user name and password authorization sign in details.
  8. After you have logged in to your trading account, now you are ready to learn how to indices trade & how to place trades using these indices software platform.

How Do I Trade with the trading Software

So as a beginner trader it may seem complex but let us just look at some pointers on how to indices trade this indices platform.

The first windows are marketwatch this is simple straight forward window which display stock prices that you will be trading. You also can right-click on any stock price feed for example any MT4 symbol to open a display of a stock chart like the one above, the stock chart you'll open, press open Chart.

The Data window will show data about you logged in account, and data of indicators such as displayed and shown in the above image screenshot.

The terminal will show account balance & all open trade, to expand this window, hover your mouse until the cursor changes, then click and hold down mouse button key and move the mouse up.

Then there is the menu bars, example File, View…. If for example you want to hide the stock trading marketwatch window, click view & uncheck/untick the stock trading market-watch window, the stock trading marketwatch window will disappear. To make it appear again click view again, then check/tick market watch window panel, it'll reappear. Each button on this menu is self explaining for example charts button is a button that manipulates the trading charts opened, changes timeframe, in general all about charts.

By now you already know how to trade & can even place a buy or sell indices trade on the platform by right clicking anywhere on the stock chart window above, then click trading, then open a new buy or sell indices trade using the window which appears.
