Periodicity Toolbar Menu on Trading Software

Periodicity just means timeframes, in MT4 this tool bar is used to select which time-frames to trade with.

Periodicity Toolbar Menu on MT4 - Stock Chart Timeframes MT4 - Stock Index Trading Time Frames Beginner Traders

The time frame listed are:

  1. 1 Min - M1
  2. 5 Min - M5
  3. 15 Min - M15
  4. 30 Min - M30
  5. 1 H - H1
  6. 4 Hours - H4
  7. Daily - D1
  8. Weekly - W1
  9. Monthly - MN

As a stock index trader you only require to trade with only about 3 chart time-frames, for example let's say a indices trader only requires the 15 minute, the 1 hour and the 4 hours timeframe, then on the periodicity toolbar a trader can hide all the others which are not required using the following method.

How to Customize

To add a tool that's not listed above a trader has to follow these steps

  1. Right-Click at the tool-bar button to the left (Looks like a stack of coins), illustrated below

How Do I Customize the Periodicity Toolbar on MT4? - Chart Timeframes MT4

2. Click on customize

After following the above steps the customize window popup will appear as illustrated and shown below:

Select Chart Timeframes and Remove Them from the Periodicity Toolbar in MT4 - Chart Time Frames MetaTrader 4

Select as displayed above & press remove button.

The window pop up will then look like:

Chart Timeframes Removed from Periodicity Toolbar in MT4 - Index Trading Periodicity Toolbar Menu

On the platform the periodicity tool-bar will now look like the examples illustrated below:

Using the above setup as a stock index trader you can save space within your MetaTrader 4 platform workspace by hiding the timeframes which you are not trading with.
