Price trends up but pulls back? Index traders wait for a better buy spot. They watch for support levels. Some use moving averages to find them.

You get a buy signal when price bounces off the MA and starts moving up. The signal is confirmed once price closes above the Moving Average. Since lots of stock index traders use moving averages to spot these signals, price tends to react to those levels.

A stoploss order should be placed just under the Moving Average Indicator. Ideally, it should be a few pips below the lowest point from before.

If the price trends down but starts to pull back, many index traders wait for a better sell entry at resistance. Some use the moving average to spot that resistance level.

A sell trading signal gets generated/derived when price hits the MA, turns & starts moving in the downward trend direction. The signal is confirmed when price closes below the Moving Average. Because many Indices Traders use the moving averages MAs to generate trading signals, price generally will react to these areas.

A stoploss order should be set a little above where the Index moving average technical indicator is. It really should be a few pips above the last high point.

In indices, a broken resistance level becomes support, and the reverse is true.

The fundamentals of a market trend shift, which causes a shift in the direction of a chart. The moving average indicator reveals the direction change, and the direction is validated when the resistance level becomes support or vice versa (when support turns in to resistance).
