What's Required Margin? : Required Stock Index Trade Margin is the sum of money your broker requires from you to open a trade position position. It is denoted in %.
What's Indices Equity? : Stock Index Equity is the total amount of capital which you have got on your account.
What is Used Margin? : Used Margin is amount of money on your account which has already been used when buying a lot, this contract is the one that's shown and displayed in open trade positions. As a trader you as a trader can not use this amount of money after registering and opening a trade because you've already used it & it isn't available to you to open another trade with.
In other words, because your broker has opened up a trade position for you using the capital you've borrowed, you as a trader must preserve this used margin as a collateral so that to allow you to continue using the leverage the broker has assigned you.
What's Indices Free Trading Margin? : Indices Free Margin is the amount on your trading account which you as a trader can use to open new trades. Free Margin is amount of money on your account which hasn't yet been leveraged because you have not yet opened a trade positions with this money - this Free Trading Margin is also very important for you as the trader because it facilitates you as a trader to continue holding your open trades as explained below.
Explanation of What is Margin on MT4 Software
The margin example in MT4 below, the set leverage is 100:1, the margin which is 1% is $2683.07 - hence the total sum controlled by trader is: $268,307 - this is because with this leverage a trader has used little of their own money & borrowed the rest from their online broker, with this leverage set at 100:1, the trader is using 1 percent of their capital, this 1 % is $2683.07 dollars - if 1 percent is $2683.07 dollars then 100% is $268,307
