These stock orders allow traders to buy above or sell below current market levels depending on their strategies.

  • Buy Stop Stock Order An order to buy at a level that is above the stock market price.

  • Sell Stop An order to sell at a level that is below the stock market price.

These stock orders are also called stock orders that are waiting to be filled. Regular people who trade online use these orders when they want to trade based on a pattern like consolidation, but they don't want to have to sit and watch the stock prices all day until there's a price breakout. So, traders will set these orders to buy or sell above and below the current stock price, and when the price breaks out in either direction, one of these orders will be executed, and a buy or sell trade will start automatically.
